Hi, and welcome to TimboRuns—a blog where running, mental health, and personal resilience come together. I’m Tim, and I’m so glad you’re here.
Running is more than just a hobby for me—it’s been a lifeline. For years, I’ve struggled with my mental health. There have been some incredibly dark times, including being admitted to the hospital on multiple occasions and facing suicidal thoughts. It’s been a challenging journey, but along the way, I discovered running, and it has been a game-changer for me.
Running helps me manage my mental health. It clears my mind, helps me process emotions, and gives me something positive to work toward. No matter how tough life feels, running reminds me that I’m capable of putting one foot in front of the other, literally and figuratively.
I also live with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), a condition that affects how my brain and body communicate. It brings its own set of challenges, but running has helped me find a sense of control and stability amidst the unpredictability.
Right now, I’m training for one of my biggest goals yet—the 2025 TCS London Marathon, and I’m thrilled to be doing it with my wife, Gayle, by my side. Preparing for this race has been a source of motivation and joy for us, and I can’t wait to share the journey with you.
Why I Started This Blog
I created TimboRuns to share my story in the hope that it might inspire or encourage someone else. Life is messy, and running doesn’t magically fix everything, but it’s been a powerful tool in helping me find balance, purpose, and hope.
Here, you’ll find honest reflections on mental health, personal stories from the road (and the treadmill!), and updates on my marathon training. I also want this to be a space where we can connect—whether you’re a runner, someone navigating mental health challenges, or just looking for a bit of encouragement.
Let’s Keep Moving
If my journey resonates with you, or if you have your own story to share, I’d love to hear from you. You’re not alone, and together we can celebrate the strength it takes to keep going—one step, one mile, one day at a time.
Thank you for stopping by, and I hope TimboRuns brings you a little inspiration to keep moving forward.
Happy running,
Tim
